The purpose of the Child Welfare Network is to ensure the safety of and improve outcomes for, youth involved in both the child welfare and the juvenile justice systems (Crossover Youth) in our community. The Network is currently working with Georgetown University’s Center for Juvenile Justice Reform to implement the evidence-based Crossover Youth Practice Model (CYPM). There are (4) four objectives for the network and implementation of the CYPM model.
They are:
- Achieve an overall reduction in recidivism and reduction in the severity of new crimes.
- Increase cases being dismissed or diverted.
- Improve crossover youth living at home and reduce youth detained and in congregate care.
- Improve pro-social behavior for youth served.
